Hat, Sunday

I wanted to update this a little bit on Things Anthony is Doing Now that he is Almost 20 Months Old. When you take him outside, he says outside (or really, side). If you say "wash your hair", he pats his head. If you mention brushing your teeth, he mimes it. He knows where his head, hair, shoulders, cheeks, ears, eyes, and nose is/are. I am glad that we do the Signing that we do, and I know that it is helping him learn to speak and that he'll have an improved vocabulary because of it, but right now I feel as if we are raising a mime. And you know how annoying mimes are. I got an email the other day about 'Your 19 Month, Two Week Old' and it said at this point, he could have a vocabulary of 10-50 words. I don't put a lot of stock in it, and it's a good thing, because I think we'd be pushing it to say he has 10 words that he says aloud. He says: No, Dad, Mom, Yeah, Outside, Bye, Hi, ... I think that might be it. He signs a lot more than that but we are still waiting for a little more verbalization. Anyway, here are some pictures from Sunday.

Hair/Cheeks

Yes, we watching "Next" on MTV with Anthony. But he is clearly facing away from it. And also, I'm sure we turned it off right after I snapped the picture.

He wouldn't take off his hat for hours. His cheeks were super red the other day while he was still sick.

Video

Saturday. Originally I thought it was Friday but that's really dumb, considering those are the clothes he's in in the pictures below and that was Saturday. It was a long weekend, what can I say.

Saturday

Friday he seemed kind of like he had a cold and I do too, so we didn't think much of it. Friday night he barely slept, it seemed, he was never really awake but moaning and coughing all night. Saturday morning, he was completely inconsolable, we had to put him in the bath to stop him from crying. Mike called the doctor and the weekend nurse called back and said it sounded like he should maybe go to Riley Emergency Room. So off we went. He has croup and needed a breathing treatment (involving an oxygen type mask that hissed and spit steam, you can imagine how that went over) and two needles (one in each thigh) of a steroid. We spent most of the morning there and although he had a rough time going to sleep last night, he ended up sleeping all night again and seems better today. We've been home, except for the hospital visit, since Friday and we're kind of sick of each other. Or maybe that's just me. :)

Thursday

I think my mother gave him that outfit, I can't remember. But it's super cute. It's 24 months which is pretty much what he's wearing now. That lying down under the computer desk is new, he does it several times a day.

Wednesday

Hanging around Wednesday.

Tuesday Night

Tuesday Night we had my sister Laura and our friends Carlos and Patricia over. They brought their kids, Alito and Tino. Tino is the baby and Alito is the one standing up. We had a really nice time.

My sister Laura got him this outfit for Christmas, it is adorable. Here he is, not napping.

Ladybug Picnic

My sister just posted this, among other old Sesame Street clips. BOY we loved that Ladybug Picnic, and I would have sworn I remembered every line but I have been remembering wrong all these years. Anthony and I were just watching Sesame Street this morning - he doesn't really get it yet but he's happy to see Elmo. I suppose he might be a little confused as to why Elmo isn't doing that damned Hokey Pokey that he does 1 trillion times a day that he does here.

Monday Morning

Lately Anthony has taken to using his applesauce or yogurt container as a coaster. He was sneezing in the middle of these pictures, not screaming. He slept more than 12 hours last night so he's in good form this morning.

Last week sometime

I can't remember but I think it was maybe the 2nd?

This is funny

I don't know why he'd put that hat over his head like that and try to walk out of the room.

Video of Anthony playing peekaboo

Note the dirty look he gives me when the light in his eyes bugs him. He LOVES to play peekaboo with this scarf - I have to hide it if we want any peace.

Zoo, Too

He did look at the Sea Lions, but that's only because Mike was holding him.

Zoo

We went to the Zoo the other day, it was crazy warm. Please note in these pictures that Anthony isn't ever looking at any of the animals. Rather, a rock, a tree, and leaves.
