Happy Anniversary

To Us. We're married four years today although, seriously? It feels like 40. I am putting this picture on Anthony's blog because he is the reason why it feels so long! I'm (mostly) kidding. Happy Anniversary to Mike, who is the best husband and dad in the world.

Oh Come on

He is too cute. He only has three more days of summer school. I can't believe how fast it's gone and I can't believe how well it's gone. Every day he skips out of here with Mike and I just can't believe it. I was so worried. NOW I am worried about how he's going to do in his 1.5 weeks off and how he'll do when there is a new teacher in his classroom. But we'll see, maybe it will go fine. But I am going to worry about it just in case it helps. ;)

Gross

That Dilly Bar was *everywhere*. Marita bought them the other night for dessert and Anthony didn't have one but MAN did he like it today!

Drawer

Eating from his Drawer of Food. Yesterday it was fish and chips. Ha! I just got that, (Gold)fish and (Potato)Chips. Yes, we do put him in clothes every day, it's just he usually ends up in just a diaper once he's visited the pool.

Stroller

He's so funny about the stroller. He gets *very* mad and possessive about it if we try to go for a walk and put Maria in it. So usually he rides and I take her in the Bjorn. But if it's just sitting in the yard, he'll climb in and hang there for a while, and he loves it if you just push him back and forth up the sidewalk.

Saturday

I know these are blurry but my battery was almost dead. Mike's mom found it for me, in a lawn chair! I am super tired, I'm so glad she found it and even more glad that I didn't throw it away.

Dentist

Anthony went to the dentist for the first time today. We're never going back! He will go to the dentist again I'm sure but we're not going to go to this dentist. He was recommended to us as a special needs dentist, but maybe he would only be good if your special need was that you needed to wait 90 minutes to be seen? That is not Anthony's special need, so it didn't work out too well for us. BUT he has no cavities and we did it, that's the important thing. I am going to find a dentist in another area of town, one in which there hasn't been maybe so much crime, and I'm going to go there. Even if I have to drive 30 minutes, if I didn't have to wait 90, I'd still come out ahead. Anyways, my point is, he was tired from the waiting and the screaming. So he napped for like three hours on the couch and I'm sure will be up til midnight tonight.

In the Pool

He was splashing away and being really cute and I said Anthony! and he looked up and I made a cheesy grin and this is how he responded. He loves that pool.

Watermelon

After school. He had a good day today, the assistant told me that he is getting better every day. I talked to another mother today, her son is three and has been in school at Anthony's school since December and she said he's doing really well. I asked does he talk a lot and she said yes, but only for him! She said when he's done eating he'll say 'all gone' and when she asks how school went he says 'fine' and I said that seems like a lot to me!

Bunny

We have a rabbit in our yard, he's a giant right? There was a hole but my Dad filled it in. He's kind of skinny looking and rat-like for my taste.

Oh, Anthony

He has driven us *crazy* this weekend. I think maybe he was confused because he didn't go anywhere first thing? Ugh. But tomorrow is another day, and hopefully he will still like school tomorrow. He was in his pool this afternoon for more than two hours!

I got Maria a new travel swing today

Sigh. I am trying to find a swing for Anthony. I think I'm going to get a glider type swing for the backyard, I really don't want to get a swing that we have to dig up the backyard for.

First Week of School

Over. Today when I went to get Anthony, the school was on a lockdown - there was some sort of police action right near his school. But it was over shortly after I got there and he was safe as could be. His first week was better than we could have ever imagined. I think he is maybe not the worst behaved kid there! His teacher told me today that he had two meltdowns - one was because he couldn't eat all the watermelon he wanted and one was because he couldn't play with the instruments at music time all day. Apparently, he had two watermelon servings and then when they told him he couldn't have more, he went to other kids' plates and started to take theirs! Mostly what I want to say about this week is that his teacher and the two assistants seem to really like Anthony and it just means more to me than I can say. For the first time in a long time, I really think he'll be okay. Or at least out of the house for a few hours a day. Ha!

Home Again

He's home and it went pretty well. I went to get him at 12:45 - FOUR HOURS after we left him (!) and he was at a table, playing with safety scissors and saying 'scissors'. We've been talking about school and watching the school Signing Time and maybe something took? Maybe he heard us? Maybe it's all going to go terribly from now on? Who cares? It went fine today!

Pre school pop tart

Well, he's at school. We took him there for 8:00 and didn't leave until 9:00! It was kind of chaotic there, I guess maybe a typical first day of school. We were the first ones there, two other kids showed up before we left and I guess more were coming. They were going to have breakfast once the other kids got there. It's a nice room, the teacher is nice, but she told Anthony to hang up his own book bag and that she couldn't go near her desk, as it was 'her space'. Ooh, he is in for some shocks today, I am guessing!

Hot Dog

Here he is on the couch, eating a hot dog. Well. Taking a few bites of a hot dog, which is better than he has been doing. He is going to be in for such a big surprise tomorrow, because he is supposed to have breakfast and lunch at school and they are not going to let him lick a hot dog, or eat fruit pops or fruit snacks. It's in like 12.5 hours! I will take pictures tomorrow of him before his first day and treat it like the exciting thing that it is. I hope.

Your Preschooler This Week

Here's what my developmental newsletter that I get every week says about this week for Anthony:

Your Little Chatterbox

Even kids who were slow to begin talking usually enter this year completely fluent. It's incredible how sophisticated your child's command of the language has become, considering that just a few months ago all he could say was "Dada."

Ha - we're not exactly there yet with Anthony!

He is starting school on Monday. We are excited and nervous. He is going from 8:00-1:00, five days a week. Mike is off work on Monday so we're going to take him together and then I'll report back how it goes. I didn't take any pictures today but I got that newsletter in my email and I wanted to comment on it. I hope and pray that someday (soon?) he'll catch up to where he's supposed to be.

Exersaucer

He still really likes it. It's very difficult to bring toys up for Maria without having Anthony commandeer them.
